chivalrous
\Chiv"al*rous\, a. [OF. chevalerus, chevalereus, fr.
chevalier. See Chivalry.] Pertaining to chivalry or
knight-errantry; warlike; heroic; gallant;
high-spirited; high-minded; magnanimous.
1. Having the qualities of gallantry and honor
attributed to an ideal knight.
2. Of or relating to chivalry.
3. Characterized by consideration and courtesy,
especially toward women.
When a true gentleman opens a door for a woman,
he does so not because he thinks the woman is
incapable. He does so as a gesture of kindness, he does
so out of respect for her as a woman.
d3 takes the same approach to each of their
productions. Our gatherings are generally run by "the
guys." And for the most part, women are kept out of the
kitchen. This is in NO PART due to a perceived or
assumed lack of ability, but due entirely to our attempt
to honor these women.
Keeping this in mind, our "goal" with each d3 Production
is to create an atmosphere that is welcoming and
comfortable for all guests. We hope to create an
environment where people of differing interests and
ideals can gather to enjoy themselves. We strive to provide a
temporary haven from the rigors of everyday life, with
good food, good fellowship, and a good film.
To accomplish this task, we rarely ask for outside
assistance. By doing this, we are offering the chance
for our guests to simply 'come as you are.' No pressure
to cook, prepare, setup, etc. simply show up and enjoy
yourself. After much prodding, however, we now have a
donation jar. While admittedly, there is a certain cost
associated with these productions, we are
firmly against charging "admission" as this would
fundamentaly conflict with the premise of the event.
We at d3 Productions feel quite fortunate to bring so
many of our friends together. We welcome the chance to
bless you, our guests, and have thoroughly enjoyed each
and every opportunity to do so. We equally look forward
to future events where we can welcome you with good
food, company and entertainment.
We think Delmar said it best in O' Brother Where Art
Thou:
"Come on
in, the water's fine."
